Update 2023 – Note from Janice: This blog post was previously published and has been updated for 2023. A movement has begun to #StandUpToJewishHate as the rise of Anti-Semetic incidents have increased exponentially. We hope you will join us in this endeavor. This week, we commemorate Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. As many of you know, the centuries-old history of Three Brothers Bakery runs through the Holocaust, where […]

On May 1st our family participated in the 10th March of Remembrance in conjunction with Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day. The organization was created by descendants of Nazi, who are using the lessons of the Holocaust and terrible atrocities committed by their ancestors to make sure something as terrible will never happen again. We must learn from our history to make peace in this world. Bobby’s mother, Edith Jucker, told her […]

Since the passage of the CARES Act in March, I have been working to include SBA Disaster loans prior to 2020 be given the same debt forgiveness afforded small businesses with SBA guaranteed 504 and 7a loans through the CARES Act. While I may have been the one to bring it to light, it takes a village to shine a light on it. The National Restaurant Association, Texas Restaurant Association, […]

We are rooted in the legacy of survival and now more than ever all small businesses are being tested. What a difference a year can make. Last […]

I was number 10 on my mother’s maternal line to be diagnosed with breast cancer. I knew I was high risk, so I was diligent in my screenings. What am I saying? You are your first line of defense. You must put yourself first and get screened; otherwise, if you have breast cancer, it will never be found. Throughout my journey, I learned that sometimes the treatment can be harder […]
Benjamin Franklin once said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” We think these are wise words that apply directly to disaster preparedness. As a small business that has flooded four times, being prepared has become a daily part of running our business. Many of you will recall a few weeks ago Houston was hit hard by Tropical Depression Imelda, causing record flooding. Imelda was a surprise to […]

I have tons of sweet memories of spending Rosh Hashanah with my family, but they aren’t exactly what you would think! My mom, Marion Goldsmith, would hold a big dinner and lunch for Rosh Hashanah with family and friends alike. I never missed one – no matter where I lived or what was going on. Even when it was the UN General Assembly and I was working at The Waldorf […]

I just listened to a podcast about the 25th anniversary of the movie “Philadelphia.” It moved me so very much and took me back to the 1980s in New York City. It was 1984, and I had just begun working my first “real” job at The Waldorf=Astoria. The lead Assistant Manager was a man named Michael, who was a wealth of knowledge and knew how to deal with any and […]
