A motivated individual can accomplish a lot over lunch, yet it wouldn’t surpass what seven gentlemen accomplished at the Texas State Hotel over an afternoon lunch. It was historical! The conversation that took place centered on the protection of the cattle industry along the Texas Gulf Coast. Alas! The idea of a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was born!

Did you know?

There’s approximately 600 sanctioned rodeos annually with over 30 million fans in the U.S. competition!

The first rodeo show was held at the Democratic Convention Hall in April of 1932. The addition of a horse show and parade were added later that year. The “Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry was their first entertainer in 1942. Visitors started to attend from all over the world. Today, an estimated 2.5 million people enjoy the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! As you can see, everything really is bigger in Texas!

Everyone is excited for the re-opening of the largest rodeo in Houston after being cancelled two years in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will be held from February 28th to March 20th, 2022. There are amazing lineups of entertainers, several shopping vendors, and many diverse food choices to satisfy every craving!
