The Holiday of Giving Thanks
According to American popular culture, the celebration of 1621 was the most notable thanksgiving event to date. Dating back to the settlers celebrating a season of great harvest and later joined by the Native Americans in celebration together. Giving praise and thanks for their harvest received.
Over the years, Thanksgiving has expanded its message and significance from President Lincoln and the Civil War to President Grant using Thanksgiving as a date for the “appointed and remembered”. Even now Thanksgiving has become significant for charitable giving’s (providing hot meals and canned foods) for people in need, parades for celebration and officially introducing the holiday season. As part of American culture, sports have become a Thanksgiving staple dating back to the 19th century. Since the 21st Century, vacation and travel mostly has gone up by the millions each passing year. In 2020, the year when the Covid-19 pandemic started to make a significant impact on the world, still had over 50 million travelers in the United States. Allowing friends and families to gather, celebrate, give thanks and to EAT!
Did you know that American’s alone consume over 45 million turkey’s each year!? Other than that, we also consume over 50 million pies each year with a little over 50% being store/bakery purchased. Turkeys and pies are the foods of the season and a staple food at any Thanksgiving dinner table. Why stress out over a season of celebration and dealing with the pressures of ensuring you have a feast prepared?
Three Brothers Bakery has been in business for over 70 years and has worked hard at becoming a Houston staple in providing baked goods and sweets for all occasions. Not only that but we’ve been given many accolades and awards for the product we provide throughout the country as well.
Our award-winning Southern Pecan Pie was voted best mail order Pecan Pie America has to offer by Country Living Magazine. Because of this we were able to expand our offerings of Pecan Pie by now offering (Salted Caramel and Chocolate Bourbon). In the past couple years our Key Lime Pie, was awarded the Blue Ribbon for Best Key Lime Pie in the country, which took place in the Key Lime state!
Maybe you’re not a fan of sweets and that’s ok too! We’re still here to help. American’s purchase over 40 million rolls to place at their Thanksgiving gatherings all around the table each season. We have French rolls, perfect for any Thanksgiving left over turkey sandwich. But quite honestly, the best roll for Thanksgiving dinner is our Challah rolls or mini challah rolls.
Over the many years we’ve been serving the community we’ve heard many ways to eat our rolls:
1. Pull apart and eat.
2. Add some butter spread
3. Slap on some turkey, cranberry sauce, and gravy.
4. Toast in the oven with butter and garlic.
5. Stuff them with cheese
6. Mini Sliders
7. Absorb the thanksgiving juices
8. and many more…
This Thanksgiving be sure to share a meal with the ones you love, give thanks, help one another and be there for each other. This year hasn’t been easy for anyone and not much more needs to be said other than that. Whether you celebrate by watching football, eating all day, praying, going to a parade, watching a favorite tv show or listening to your favorite radio station. Share with others the things that mean the most to you and appreciate each day.
We give thanks to each one of you for giving us your continued support over the past 70+ years of business in the Houston community and throughout the country. We wouldn’t be where we’re at without you. Thank you for trusting us each holiday season in providing you with the best dessert and baked goods in the area and allowing us to be a part of your special memories. We are Memory Makers, who happen to be Bakers.
From all of us here at Three Brothers Bakery,
Happy Thanksgiving
