Many of you may recall that breast cancer awareness is a cause very near and dear to our hearts. We are privileged to support and be a part of the launch of the Israel Breast Cancer Collective.

Next month (October 25-29, 2010), Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will team with Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, to bring together advocates, survivors and supporters from every corner of the globe in historic Jerusalem to launch this collective.

Please see the following excerpt from their official email blast below. For more information, please visit komen.org/israel or e-mail israel2010@komen.org. Let us all join together and support this worthy cause!

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure partners with Hadassah

Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been helping Israel since 1994, funding $2 million in research and working with Israeli and U.S. Jewish organizations to fulfill its promise. This year, Komen brings its signature Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series to Jerusalem for the first time, inviting thousands of people of all faiths and nationalities to join the race to end breast cancer forever in Israel and all around the world.

In addition to Hadassah, there are ten other Israeli organizations who are part of the Race Committee and will help spread the word and bring participants to the Race. One of those organizations is the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, a recipient of funds from Jewish Federations nation-wide, including the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston. These organizations are each awarded with a grant from Susan G. Komen for their effort.

The inaugural Israel Race for the Cure will be held just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem on October 28, rounding out a week of activities aimed at raising awareness about the global breast cancer crisis. It is an opportunity for everyone to stand together with thousands of people from all cultures in the fight against this disease.

Cancer knows no boundaries, and neither does the Komen Israel Race for the Cure. You can be a part of this historical event, no matter where you are in the world. If you can’t be in Israel on Race day, register as a Virtual Israel Participant (VIP). As a VIP, you can form a team, set up a personal Race website, and earn fundraising rewards!
