For many the Memorial Day holiday weekend is the official kick-off of summer. It’s your first chance to wear white clothing and the start of all outdoor activities including barbecuing and camping. On the other end, for others the Memorial Day holiday is a patriotic one. It’s a chance to pay respect to members of the military who have served our country and given their lives for our freedom, are currently on active duty and to thank those who have served. Regardless of how you celebrate the May long weekend, we at Three Brothers Bakery can help you make it a memorable one.
Thanking Veterans
If you want to use this holiday for its original intention: as a chance to thank military personnel, then there are several ways to do that.
Try visiting a veteran’s hospital or your local legion (a community hall where veterans gather socially). If you have kids, this is an especially poignant way to show them how to thank these men and women for their service. We recommend that you don’t visit empty handed. Instead, stop by Three Brothers Bakery and pick up a variety of fresh out of the oven baked goods.
If you’re visiting a hospital, why not bring them some of our delicious danishes, including cheese, blueberry, or cherry. Perhaps you live close to a legion, then pick-up some of our freshly made bagels such as sesame seed, pumpernickel, or cinnamon raisin. You may be thinking to yourself, baked goods at a veteran’s hospital? We’re sure your gesture of thanks will be well received!
Hosting a Patriotic Barbecue
If Memorial Day represents the start of summer for you, then now’s the time to start planning your outdoor barbecue. You take care of the burgers, chips, and drinks and we’ll have you covered with a variety of desserts. Choose from a variety of our patriotic sheet cakes which are an excellent way to serve dessert to a large group. At Three Brothers Bakery we have a wide range of designs to choose from. If you’re feeling especially patriotic order our American flag cake. By comparison nothing says U.S.A more than one of our freshly made apple pies. We’ve also offer equally delectable pecan or cherry pies. The hardest part you’ll have is trying to decide which types of desserts you’ll want to serve.
Attend a Local Parade or Community Event
The Memorial Day weekend often features local parades honoring veterans or community events to celebrate the start of summer. Whichever occasion you attend it is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the company of family, friends, and neighbors. What better way to do that than by bringing one of our party trays? They’re perfect for sharing. We offer assorted cookies, pastries, bagels, and sliced pound cake trays. In addition to our variety of sweets, consider buying one of our freshly made loaves of bread to make the perfect picnic sandwiches. From our rye, six grain, and sourdough, to pumpernickel or challah, we have many different types of bread to suit any sandwich lover’s needs.
Celebrate
Whether you consider Memorial Day as the kick-off to summer or as an occasion to remember and thank veterans, what is most important is that you celebrate our veterans this long weekend. Take this opportunity to enjoy the company of friends, family, and neighbors in whatever way you choose and let Three Brothers Bakery help you make it a sweet one.
