…make sure you are ready for Super Bowl 2011!
This year’s much anticipated match-up between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers is quickly approaching. It’s easy to get caught up in all the speculation (trust us- we’ve been checking www.nfl.com more than we’d like to admit as of late!)
With just a little over a week to go, invitations to viewing parties and barbecues are flooding in. Not even the back-and-forth Houston weather could spoil our Super Bowl plans! And don’t get us wrong- even though we are the Preferred Bakery of the Houston Astros Birthday Parties, we are still huge football fans (though we won’t divulge who we’re rooting for this year… ;-P)
The thing we LOVE the most about Super Bowl parties is how rowdy and LOUD everyone gets! It’s great getting everyone together for the big game. A lot of times, it’s important to make sure everyone has a good time – including kids, who may not understand the rules of the great game of football. Here are a few arts and crafts we have found that will ensure the entire family has a great time during this year’s Super Bowl:
Salt Dough Football

- 1 cup salt
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- brown and white acrylic paint
- paintbrush
- football cookie cutter or kitchen knife
- toothpick
IMPORTANT NOTE: This recipe for salt dough makes a lot of projects. If you only plan on making a few, cut this recipe into fourths or in half.What you do
Preheat oven to 250 F. Mix together, salt, flour, and water until a dough is formed. Knead the dough on a floured surface until the mixture is elastic and smooth. If dough is too sticky, sprinkle with flour, continue to do so until stickiness is gone. BE CAREFUL. Do not add too much flour, this will dry out the dough and will cause it to crack before you get a chance to bake it.
