Did you know August is National Sandwich Month? It makes a little bit of sense when you consider this is the month when most students return to school, which means many parents will start making sandwiches for their lunchboxes again.

Peanut butter and jelly is nice, but sometimes, you need to take your sandwiches to the next level of sophistication. We have two tasty suggestions for you to do just that.

First, we have the challah club sandwich:

  1. You will want to toast two slices of challah bread.

  2. Then you will want to cook up some turkey bacon.

  • If you don’t have time to whip up some turkey bacon you can use lunch meat instead

**As of May 8, 2019, none of our locations are certified Kosher.**

  1. Then, you will want to coat one slice of the challah with mayonnaise or mustard and add the cheese of your choice. (For the Kosher folks out there, you can leave out the cheese or dairy products.)

  2. Finally, you add some lettuce, kale, or spinach to the sandwich and you’re done

  • We would suggest wrapping this sandwich in aluminum foil, and then placing it inside of a plastic bag. This will help prevent it from getting soggy and also help maintain the shape.

Another great lunch idea is a Ruben sandwich:

  1. First you need to get some Rye bread. You can use seeded ryemarble ryepumpernickel rye, or plain rye to make it.

  2. You will need some sauerkraut and corned beef.

  3. Place the corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese (or any other kind of cheese, if desired) onto the bread.

  4. Then using a Panini maker, or George foreman grill toast the sandwich for about 10 minutes and you are done. (For some grills and panini makers you may need to apply a non-stick cooking spray before toasting your Ruben.)

Seeded rye is great for sandwich making.
