Health and happiness to you and your family! Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is quickly approaching. This is a particularly exciting time for our family here at Three Brothers Bakery, and we are sure it is the same way for your family as well!

Traditional Rosh Hashanah Meal

One of the things we love the best about Rosh Hashanah is how families come together in anticipation of a brand new year. We have many fond memories of gathering around the table with members of our extended family for the festive meal. We would share the challah (round instead of breaded, for the roundness represents the cycle of life and the wholeness of the universe, and the seeds symbolize fertility and plenty) and pass the gefilte fish, and then look forward to dipping the apples in honey. These acts were not out of the ordinary for families such as ours, but every year it felt as if we experienced something unique and truly special.

What was Rosh Hashanah like at your house?

So, we would like to ask you: what are some of your favorite Rosh Hashana memories? We would like to share them on our blog as Rosh Hashanah approaches. Our hope is that we can all celebrate the upcoming year by remembering the fond ones that have brought us to where we are today. Leave us a comment on this blog, send us a message or comment on Facebook, or reply (@) to us on Twitter. We can’t wait to hear from you! L’shana tova!
